Verena Hillmer, 86

Verena Hillmer       Verena Hillmer, 86, of Browerville, passed away on August 27, 2011, at her home.  Funeral services for Verena were held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, 12 noon, at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville with Pastor Nate Loer officiating.  Burial was held at Evergreen Cemetery,  Browerville.
Verena was born April 10, 1925 to William & Lona (Line) Biermaier.  She was raised on a farm in Todd County.  There were eight children in the family.  Everybody helped out at the farm.  Her parents were poor but they never went to bed hungry or cold or feeling unloved.  The family was happy and content because they didn’t know there was anything better to be had.
As Verena grew older, she worked in homes where help was needed.  She said it was a good learning experience for her later in life.  Later on she was employed at the Wonder Bread Bakery in St. Paul .  She became engaged to Lawrence Hillmer and later wedding plans were made.   Verena moved back to Browerville and on January 23, 1945, she married Lawrence Hillmer.  The union was blessed with five children.  Verena was a wife, mother, grandmother , homemaker, neighbor and friend.  She built her life around her family and home.
Verena is survived by her husband Lawrence of Browerville; children:  David (Donna) Hillmer of Browerville, Katherine (Lyle) Olson of Browerville, Caroline (Kenny) Johnson of St. Paul and Darlene (Gary) Meyer of Cushing; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren.
Verena is preceded in death by her parents, William & Lonie; son Robert on January 5, 1994; sister, Ethel Jones; brothers:  Lawrence Biermaier, Kenny Biermaier, Lloyd Biermaier and Donald Biermaier.
