Alois “Al” Charles Schroeder, 74


March 27, 1937 – September 16, 2011

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Alois “Al” Schroeder, age 74, who died peacefully Friday, September 16 surrounded by his family after a 4 year battle with cancer.  Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish Prayers will be at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home.

Al was born in Richmond, MN to Luke and Anna (Ressemann) Schroeder. He married Barbara Swanson on June 2, 1956.  Al and Barb had three children.  Barb passed away November 30, 1988.  He married Dolores Rothstein, May 31, 1996.

Al worked as a tool grinder for forty years and retired from Liberty Tool in 2002.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, horseshoes, a good game of cribbage and enjoying a cold one with friends and family.  He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul parish.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores, Richmond; children, Chuck, Monticello, Gerry “Weasel” (Mary), Minneapolis, Jeanne (Jerry) Schmidt, South Haven; stepchildren, Rick (Linda) Rothstein, Richmond, Lori Edlund, Cold Spring, Lisa (Paul) Sand, Avon, Darin “Lewis” Rothstein, Richmond, LeAnn (Todd) Johnson, Sartell, Amy (Jeremy) Salzer, St. Joseph; 6 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Schroeder, Steele, ND.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barb; parents; brother, “Andy”; sister, “Floss”; two sisters-in-law, and nephew, Terry Madden.
