Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander, MN for Evelyn Elizabeth Sween, age 96, who died at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring, MN. Burial will be in the Ostrander Cemetery in Ostrander, MN.
There will be a prayer service for relatives and friends at the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring, MN on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
Evelyn was born near Lanesboro in Fillmore County to Samuel and Mary (Dennstedt) McDowell. She married Bennie Sween on October 27, 1937 in Ostrander, MN. Evelyn’s fulltime job was as a mother. She worked part-time as a school bus driver, an aide at the Ostrander Nursing Home and at LeRoy Products. She crocheted many colorful afghans. Evelyn was an avid SkipBo players as well as bingo. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and resident of Ostrander for 61 years.
Survivors include her loving children, Dallas (Paula) Sween, Norma (Dale) Monson, Betty (John) Anderson; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Reeves of Wilmington, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie (1992); 9 brothers and sisters.
Memorials are preferred to Ostrander Trinity, Assumption Home in Cold Spring, and Peace Lutheran in Cold Spring.
