Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011 at American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Helen L. Scott, age 74, of Long Prairie who passed away on Saturday at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie and also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Rev. Bill Bakewicz will officiate and burial will be at Little Sauk Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Little Sauk. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home ~ Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Helen L. Scott was born in Long Prairie on December 8, 1936 to Harry and Daisy (DeLong) Johnson of Little Sauk. She was a teacher, in the community for 38 years. Helen touched many lives through her teaching, her Christian faith and her generosity. She was a remarkable person, always putting others before herself. Helen valued the time with family and friends.
Helen is survived by her son, Steve (Paula) of Tucson, AZ; siblings, Bernice (Paul) Snyder of Othello, WA, Harriet (Gene) Harmeling of Sun City, AZ, and Gerald (Judith) Johnson of Long Prairie; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kathy Johnson.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
