Anthony B. “Tony” Boeckermann, age 85 of St. Francis, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 surrounded  by his family at his home in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, November 30 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis with Rev. Mike Kellogg officiating.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in St. Francis. The St. Francis Christian Women will pray with the St. Francis Men’s Society at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church.

Anthony Bernard Boeckermann was born July 3, 1926 in Melrose, Minnesota to Bernard and Amanda (Toenyan) Boeckermann.  On May 13, 1952 he married Edna Hoeschen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport.  Tony attended country school between St. Rose and Melrose through the eighth grade. He worked at Franklin Manufacturing in St. Cloud and farmed east of Upsala for 12 years.  He then moved east of St. Francis and farmed there until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis and the St. Francis Men’s Society.  Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Boeckermann of St. Francis; children, Gerald (Mary Jane) Boeckermann of Freeport, Donna Mae (Marvin) Rakotz of St. James, Allan (Maggie) Boeckermann of Glencoe, and Peter (Joan) Boeckermann of Albany; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Marie Kampsen of New Munich, Caroline Ahrens of Grey Eagle, Helen (Donald) Hallermann of Sartell, Roger (Irene) Boeckermann of St. Rose, and Monica Rieland of New Munich.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Eleanor Wiechmann, Stella Ostendorf, Lawrence Boeckermann, Rose Mary Boeckermann, Edmund Boeckermann, Wilfred Boeckermann, Bernadine Hallermann, and Frank Boeckermann; and great-grandson, Brady Rademacher.

Serving as casket bearers will be Timothy Rakotz, Thomas Rakotz, Jonathan Boeckermann, David Boeckermann, Russell Boeckermann, and Richard Boeckermann. Cross bearer will be Anthony Rakotz and scripture bearers will be Gretchen Wolbeck and Julie Lange.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
