David “Dave” Schmitt, age 82

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for David Schmitt, age 82, who died Tuesday at his home surrounded by his family. Entombment will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.
A visitation for Dave will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
Dave was born in Richmond, MN to Math and Irene (Doubek) Schmitt. He worked 60 years at the Cold Spring Granite Company as a hand polisher. He loved his classic Chevrolets and was a member of the Cold Spring Street Machines. Dave was also a member of St. Boniface Parish, the St. Boniface Adult and Resurrection choirs, and the Cold Spring Area Maennerchor. He had a great love for music, dancing, gardening and cruising in his cars.
Survivors include his children, Joseph (Mary Jane) of Backus, Debbie (Butch) Nuernberg of Cook, MN, Robert of St. Cloud, Paul (Deb) of Cold Spring, Nancy of Cold Spring, John (Beth) of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Fuchs; daughter, Mary Elisabeth.
