Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2:30 p.m., the Grey Eagle Community Chorus will present a Christmas concert at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala.
This musical group is sponsored by the Upsala Ministerial Association. It is a community event offered during Advent with a goal to inspire and help all focus on the true meaning of Christmas.
The Ministerial Association consists of the pastors of Gethsemane, St. Mary’s, Covenant, Community Country and Word of Life churches. The churches sponsor community inspirational events and provide crisis support services in the Upsala area.
The concert will offer classical and traditional music. Members of the chorus are residents of Grey Eagle and nearby communities. This group has been offering quality music for singers and listeners for several years.
The program is the result of the collaboration of Ron Grove and Bob Kutter.
Grove is the chorus director. As a former music instructor he brings valuable experience to his work with the chorus.
Kutter acts as spokesman, event coordinator and presenter at the concerts. Together they select the music to be performed.
The other important member of this team is Susan Roe. She is the accompanist who supports this chorus in addition to musical events within the community. Roe is organist at Grey Eagle Methodist Church and active in the Long Prairie Chamber Orchestra.
Refreshments will be served at the end of the concert. A freewill offering will be taken. Funds received will go to the chorus for new music and to the “Helping Hands” community fund which the ministers use to assist people in need.
