Upsala increases City Hall hours, salaries

Office hours have been increased at the Upsala City Hall. Following a special meeting Nov. 21, council members approved having City Hall open five days a week.
The new hours are: Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m
After holding a closed evaluation on Adrian Welle, city clerk, and Frank Koopmeiners, city maintenance, the Council opened the meeting to discuss employee salary increases.
Welle, who completed his 90-day probation period, received an increase from $14 per hour to $17 per hour retroactive to Nov. 1.
Koopmeiners received an increase to $3,161.26 per month effective Jan. 1, 2012 This was increased from $3,069.18.
Other increases for employees included Julian Herbes, maintenance, $10 per hour, up from $9.84 and Sheri Johnson, deputy city clerk, $12.75 per hour, up from $12.36. Johnson is moving to a fill-in basis. Both increases become effective Jan. 1, 2012.
