A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN for James Callais, age 80, who died Friday at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Burial will be at the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery in Cold Spring.
There will be a gathering of relatives and friends from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
James was born in Waterford, MN to George and Edith (Parker) Callais. He married Isabelle Hilsgen on April 24, 1954 in, St. Paul, MN. James served four years in the US Navy. He received the Purple Heart for action in the Korean conflict. James farmed in the Lake Henry area for many years before retiring in the Cold Spring area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially his moose hunting trips to Churchill Canada.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Isabelle; children, Dianne (Jim) Zadlow, of Isanti, Michael (Janet) of Lester Prairie, Theresa (Jim) Sonne of Sharpsburg, GA, Cyrus (Stephanie) of Rochester, Le Roy (Dianna) of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vicki Thomas of Inver Grove Heights, and Mabel Flaherty of Pine City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.
