Frank J. Petron, Jr., 77
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville for Frank J. Petron, Jr., 77 year old resident of Long Prairie, MN, who passed away on Wednesday, January 18th at St. Cloud Hospital. Father Peter VanderWeyst will officiate. Friends and family may call from from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Frank Joseph Petron, Jr. was born on April 22, 1934 in Browerville, MN to the late Frank, Sr. and Sophie (Newbauer) Petron. He attended the local schools and graduated from Browerville High school in 1951. Frank then enlisted in to the U.S. Marine Corp. After being honorably discharged from the service in 1954, Frank was united in marriage to Maradee Michaelson in Iowa. They were married for 35 years and resided in the Twin Cities where Frank worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. He became a switchman on the railroad and retired after 40+ years on the job.
Frank was an avid fisherman (especially ice fishing) and also enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo, along with trips to the casino. Frank loved the time spent with his grandchildren and helping them on numerous projects.
Frank is survived by his children, Terry Petron of Astatula, FL, Rodney (Debbie) Petron of Moundsview, MN, and Kim (Mark) Sullivan of Ulen, MN; brother, Jim (Carol) Petron of Browerville; sisters, Helen (Elmer) Bruder of Long Prairie, Genevieve Shinabarger of Long Prairie, Lorraine Sadlo of Browerville, Joan (Richard) Stach of Monticello, MN, Rose Kortuem of Clarissa, MN, Mary Ann (Louis) Tepley of Clarissa, and Deloris (Ray) Borchard of Long Prairie; grandchildren, Chad (Alison) Hauck, Keisa (John) Retka, Alicia Petron-Tabatt, and Kylah Sullivan; great grandchildren, Ellie, Morgan, Kaylee, and Ty; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Tasha Shutter; great grandson, Wyatt; and brothers-in-law, Ken Shinabarger and Roger Sadlo.
Frank’s Casket bearers will be John Retka, Jason Aicher, Chad Hauck, Mark Sullivan, Rudy John, and Mike Michaelson.
