Charles G. Leverich, age 74 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at his home. A mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, February 3, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie with Father Jerry Rogers officiating. Interment was held at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Long Prairie.
Chuck was born June 4, 1937 in Baxter Springs, KS to the union of Charles G. Sr. and Marie (Cardwell) Leverich. Chuck earned his associate degree in Journalism. He worked as a disc jockey for several radio stations, but enjoyed working the most for WGN Chicago.
He was then united in marriage to Maggie (Laliberte) Leverich on September 4, 2004 in Long Prairie, MN. Chuck was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Baxter Springs, KS and St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church, Joplin, MO. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Rotarian Club in Minnesota. He was past Tail Twister and member of the Baxter Springs Lion’s Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating and camping.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Maggie of the home; three sons Charles Leverich III and wife Tammy of Valparaiso, IL, Jeff Leverich and wife Stephanie of Valparaiso, IL, and Christopher Leverich and wife Sandy of New York; two daughters Laura Burgmeister and husband John of New York, and Patty Crueger and husband Fred of Florida; one step daughter Carrie Karolus and husband Bruce of Long Prairie, MN; two stepsons Brett Wold of Sauk Centre, MN, and Chad Wold and wife Gretchen of Brainerd, MN; three brothers Gerald Leverich and wife Marilyn of Baxter Springs, KS, David Leverich and wife Bobbie of Wisconsin, and Gary Leverich and wife Louise of South Carolina; Twenty six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
