Swanville City Council holds its first meeting in new facility

Trisha Holig, from the Initiative Foundation, presented the city of Swanville with a plaque in recognition of “Our past and future partnership” at Tuesday’s meeting. The plaque stated, “Together we build a thriving economy and community” and also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Initiative Fund. Holig, left, presented the award to Mayor Sandy Peterson. Looking on are (from left): Council Members Jim Molitor, Jim Piekarski, Tim Grittner, A. J. Johnson and City Clerk Julie Hollermann. Tuesday’s meeting was held in the newly-remodeled city office located at the Senior Center.

After a few years of discussion and finally taking action earlier this year, the Swanville City Office is now located in the Senior Center Building.

The new office at the Senior Center is open and the Senior Center has been brightened with a deep cleaning of the facility by volunteers.

The City Council held its first meeting at the new facility Tuesday, and heard the remodeling projects (including the library) are coming in close to the estimates although a few items had been added to the project.

While the City Office is done, the remodeling of the library should be completed within the next week or so.

The library facility is being enlarged to include the former City Office.

Arrangements for an open house for both the new City Office and expanded library are being worked on and will be announced when finalized.
