Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Lawrence G. Willenbring, age 91, who died Thursday at his home in the comfort of his family. Fr. Cletus Connors and Fr. Elmer Torborg will concelebrate the services at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.
A visitation for Lawrence will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with Catholic United Financial. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home.
Lawrence was born to Henry and Margaret (Koetter) Willenbring on March 11, 1921 in Richmond, MN. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany October 2, 1944 – August 13, 1946 as an interpreter and officer’s escort, delivering court subpoenas. He married Monica Schramel on September 7, 1948 in Cold Spring, MN. He was employed for 34 years by the Cold Spring Granite Company and retired in 1983. Lawrence received his honorary high school diploma in 2000 at the age of 78.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Monica; 4 daughters, Beverly (Charles) Konz, Connie Leathers, Marcia (Shawn) Weber, and Faye Leither; 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Lawrence was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic United Financial (Richmond, MN), Cold Spring American Legion, and the World War II Last Man’s Club of Cold Spring, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 18 brothers and sisters, and 1 grandchild, Nadine Konz.
