Swanville City Council Briefs

On Tuesday the Swanville City Council:

• Approved a request which allows Red’s Irish Pub to have a band outside Aug. 18, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.;

• Approved having Nancy Leaseman paint a mural on a wall in the Community Center. She will raise donations to pay for the project;

• Reviewed the estimates on repairing the water tower. Directed city maintenance to contact two of the contractors and get bids on the needed work;

• Agreed to pay one half of certain expenses at the Senior Center;

• Approved having two doors at the park building replaced at an estimated cost of $1,653.56;

• Adopted a resolution for out of state traveling for the City Council and employees;

• Approved Century Link’s plan to replace the phone lines along the alley of Fourth Street, Rhoda Avenue and Sixth Street;

• Approved land use permits for an addition to Rotomolding for storage and a 14-foot by 14-foot deck for Nancy Hudalla;

• Tabled action on a request to finish the road by Rotomolding in the industrial park;

• Heard there was a new dock at the boat landing on Lake Pepin; and

• Directed maintenance to find out what it would cost to fix some of the manholes that are either too far above or too far below the level of the streets. Also maintenance was directed to seek the cost of replacing the switches needed at the water or sewer plant

The next regular meeting of the Swanville City Council will be held Tuesday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m.
