Harold J. “Boysie” Worms, 90

Harold J. “Boysie” Worms, age 90 of New Munich, died peacefully on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the St. Joseph’s Men’s Society and Knights of Columbus at 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Harold Joseph Worms was born December 12, 1921 in New Munich, Minnesota to Matt and Kate (Sieben) Worms. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.  On May 6, 1947 he married Marie Von Wahlde at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple owned and operated ACME Bar and Café in New Munich which later became the post office. After working at the post office, Boysie began working for his dad at the Lumber Yard until his retirement.  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, American Legion Post 101, St. Joseph’s Men’s Society, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 1633.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Twins. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Alice (Gary) Weber of Glenwood; grandsons, John (Sarah) Weber of Alexandria and Ryan (Sharon) Weber of Villard; great-grandchildren, Kadyn, Avah, Austin, and Landon; sisters, Mary Ann Dierkhissing of Rochester and Rosemary Osendorf of Melrose; and sister-in-law, Bridget Worms of Albany.

Boysie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Worms on November 22, 2011; brother, Ralph Worms; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Carmella Worms; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Curtis Halseth; and brothers-in law, Harold Dierkhissing and Robert Osendorf.

Serving as casket bearers will be Steve Worms, Matt Worms, Tim Worms, Scott Thelen, Bill Frevel, Bob Frevel, John Weber, and Ryan Weber. Gift bearers will be Rosie Osendorf and Rachel Wight.
