Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Mathilda Wachmann, age 98, who died Tuesday at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
A visitation for Mathilda will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday (TODAY) at the St Martin Parish Hall in St. Martin. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with St. Ann’s Society, St. Benedict Rosary Society, St. Agnes Mission Circle, St. Paul’s Circle Our Lady of Fatima, and Catholic United Financial. Visitation will continue from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. on Friday in the parish hall.
Mathilda was born in New Munich, MN to Anton and Elizabeth (Herbes) Niehoff. She married Henry Wachmann in New Munich. Mathilda loved baking homemade bread, cooking, playing cards with the mission groups, gardening, quilting, embroidery, and visiting with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Alvin (Marilyn) of Richmond and Norman (Pat) of St. Cloud; 5 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great- grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Eleanor Niehoff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; daughter-in-law, Bernice; granddaughter, Judy Pauls; great-granddaughter, Courtney Schmitz, and 7 siblings.
