A funeral service will be 12:00 noon Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond, MN for Adrian Schmit, age 80, who died Sunday at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring.
Relatives and friends may call 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.
Adrian was born in Cold Spring, MN to Michael and Christine (Palmersheim) Schmit. He attended St. Boniface High School and served in the U.S. Army. Adrian was a Golden Glove Boxer and Minnesota State Heavy Weight Champion. He was a carpenter by trade living in St. Paul, MN, Chicago, IL, Kalispell, MT, Tucson, AZ and then returned to Cold Spring. Adrian was a colorful character who lived life to the fullest and loved his family and friends deeply.
Survivors include his daughters, Helen Schmit Cusack (Woody) of Cold Spring, Vicki Meyer (Chas) of Richmond; grandchildren, Kyle and Connor Cusack, Aaron, Paul, and Emily Meyer; his dog, Tiger IV; brothers and sisters, Geraldine Benson-Zimmer (Werner) of St. Cloud, Roger (Barb) of Northbrook, IL, Joe (Marilyn) of Hopkins, MN, Fran (Mary) of St. Louis Park, Mary Ann Hermanutz (Notch) of Rockville, and Chuck of Santa Cruz, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his dogs, Tiger I, II, III; two nephews and one niece.
