Forage Field and Dairy Tour June 15
Event begins at 11 a.m. at Earl and Darlene Felling farm by Albany
The Central Minnesota Forage Council will conduct a Forage Field Tour and Dairy Tour Friday, June 15, at the Earl and Darlene Felling farm north of Albany near St. Anthony. The forage part of the tour will start at 11 a.m. with lunch and the dairy discussion following.
A main topic on the forage tour will be weed control in seeding alfalfa.
Topics addressed on the field tour will include 1) herbicide strategies related to alfalfa establishment and weed control; 2) Headline fungicide strategies and trials with alfalfa; 3) Tissue sampling and nutrient considerations; and 4) alfalfa weevil, potato leafhoppers and current issues in alfalfa fields.
Lunch will be served following the field tour. The Fellings will offer a walk through tour of their dairy after lunch.
The Felling farm is located about 6.5 miles north of Albany on Minnesota 238. Turn right on Viewcrest Road for about one mile. Watch for signs.
This event is a cooperative effort with University of Minnesota Extension and agribusiness sponsors that include at this date CentraSota Cooperative, Land O Lakes, Ag Star Financial Services and BASF.
