Ten members of the Sauk Centre Lions Club and three friends were busy Saturday, May 19, removing fences near the Sauk Centre High School football field.

The removal is part of the plan to build a new athletic complex at the school.

President Chris Schwinghamer organized Lions to start work at 8 a.m. He appointed Bob Borgmann to take charge of the project. With heavy equipment from Ken Dirkes and Jerry Beuning, the cables were removed and fence posts pulled.

“Everything went extremely well,” said Borgmann.

Two teams pulled posts, one team rolled cable and another team hauled the posts away.

A donated truck and bander from Centre Lumber were used to haul the posts.

Lions working were Jerry Beuning, John Olson, Kent Beissel, Terry Mead, Tom Bromen, Ken Dirkes, Bob Borgmann, Keith Johnson, Chris Schwinghamer, Jamie Shoutz.  Friends of the Lions were Craig Schwinghamer, Tom Zwack and Austin Shoutz.

Coborn’s Grocery furnished bakery goods.
