Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN for Raymond E. Stewart who died Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by his family. There will be a gathering of relatives and friends from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Minnesota States Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Ray was born in Clearwater, MN to Clarance “Hap” and Jessie “Mabel” (Miller) Stewart. He married Delrose Theisen on October 6, 1949 in St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Clearwater, MN. He served as a signalman in the U.S. Navy from 1943 – 1947. Ray was an Electrician and was with IBEW for over 35 years. He was an avid fisherman and he loved to spend time with his family at Red Rock Lake. He liked to winter in Weslaco, TX for the last 20 years. Ray was a member of Waite Park American Legion Post 428.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Delrose; children, Michael (Linda) of Richmond, Bob (Joyce) of Cold Spring, Jeff of Cold Spring, and Brenda (Jim) Dockendorf of Richmond; sister, Lois (John) Barron of St. Cloud; 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, James; parents; sister, Helen Baird, and brother, Clarance Stewart Jr.
