Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Long Prairie for Midge V. Hollenbeck, age 90, who passed away on Thursday at CentraCare Healthsystem in Long Prairie. Rev. Andrew Brown will officiate and burial will be at Springbrook Cemetery in Swanville. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
Medgon Virginia Kindt was born on March 12, 1922 in Winner, SD to Reinhold and Christina (Rittle) Kindt. She married Blaine Hollenbeck on May 11, 1946 in Winner. They moved to Bruce Township near Swanville, MN in 1957, where they purchased a farm. Midge was active in running the farm, as well as raising her family, and also tending a vegetable garden. She would can the produce, and was a wonderful cook. Often, they would entertain their neighbors and friends. They retired from farming in 1985. Midge also worked at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, and as assistant cook at the Lake Beauty Bible Camp and the Circle R Ranch. She enjoyed reading, painting, and taking long walks with her dog. She always looked forward to family gatherings, and visits from her grandchildren.
Midge was an active member of the Swanville Alliance Church and First Baptist Church in Long Prairie.
Midge is survived by her sons, William (Diane) Hollenbeck and Harley (Kitie) Hollenbeck, both of Long Prairie; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Blaine; daughter, Virginia Hollenbeck; and siblings, Clarence Kindt, Esther Smith, Sadie Nelson, Roy Kindt, Elsie Sever, Richard Kindt, and John Kindt.
Pallbearers will be Midge’s grandchidren; Jason, Shane, Jeremy, Kristopher, and Graham Hollenbeck; and great grandson, Alex Van Heel.
