David A. “Digger” Lange, 75

David LangeDavid A. “Digger” Lange, age 75 of Freeport, died peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

A private family service will be held for David Lange. Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Holdingford.

David Anthony Lange was born October 16, 1936 in St. Francis, Minnesota to Joseph, Sr. and Rose (Herbes) Lange. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. David served as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years with the Avon Fire Department and was a past member of the Avon Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lange of Freeport; children, Jeff (Janet) Lange of Avon, Michele (Don) Fischer of Cold Spring, Lisa (Kenny) Dobmeier of St. Francis, and Dale Lange of Avon; stepson, Kevin (Lynn) Pierskalla of Avon; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Adolph Lange of Sartell, Gene (Phyllis) Lange of Waite Park, Dan (Rita) Lange of St. Francis, Joseph, Jr. (Diane)  Lange of Upsala, and Steve (Brenda) Lange of St. Joseph; and sisters, Darlene (Hank) Kostreba of Opole and Paulette (Harold) Meier of Superior, Wisconsin.

David was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother.

Serving as urn bearers will be Jeff and Dale Lange.  Cross bearer will be Sara Dobmeier and scripture bearer will be Scott Fischer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the  Poor Claire’s Monastery.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
