October 15, 1923 – August 6, 2012

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Dr. Richard “Dick” Cook, age 88, who passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family.  Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.

Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., (TODAY) Wednesday, August 8th at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m.  Visitation will continue Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Boniface Church Narthex.

Dick was born on October 15, 1923 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Evelyn and Dr. Michael Cook.  He lived all his life in St. Cloud and attended Cathedral High School, St. John’s University and University of Minnesota Dental School.  Dick helped defend our Country in WWII as a member of the Army Air Corps, while stationed in Bombay, India.  Dick was a tail gunner in a B-24 where he earned a purple heart.  He returned to Minnesota when the war was over and graduated from U of M Dental School and began practicing with his brother Dr. Fredrick “Fritz” Cook.  Dick met the love of his life, Patricia Ann McEnaney on a blind date and was married on December 28, 1957.  Dick and Pat had a life full of happiness and adventure.  They have 7 children, Mary (Bob) Klein of St. Cloud, Gia (Reinold) Plate of Owatonna, Joe (Kathi) Cook of Chanhassen, Shannon (Jeff) Pederson of Cheyenne, WY, Amy Cook of Hudson, WI, Molly Cook of Jackson, WY, Erin Cook of Shorewood.  Dick will be remembered by his family as a patient, kind and gentle man.

Survivors include his loving wife, Pat, 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and sister-in law, Adlynn Cook.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dr. Michael and Evelyn Cook; 3 brothers, Dr. Donald Cook, Weldon “Wally” Cook and Dr. Fredrick “Fritz” Cook.

A special thank you to the staff of St. Cloud Hospital Hospice, Assumption Home and Dr. Steven Reichl for the care and compassion they showed to our husband and father.  Memorials preferred to the Poor Clares of Sauk Rapids or Assumption Home.
