Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Eugenia Butala, age 79, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.
Eugenia was born in Richmond, MN to Barney and Katherine (Kohorst) Heying. She married Mathias J. Butala on November 6, 1954 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond. Eugenia was a house wife and queen of the garage sale. She enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. Her greatest pride came from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish.
Survivors include children, Russ (Sandy) Butala of Richmond, Sandy Gertken of Richmond, and Mathias J. (Carmen) Butala of Cold Spring; brothers and sisters, Linus Heying, Henry Heying, LaVerne Heying, and Celestine Heying; grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Craig, Vickie (Chris) Demuth, Sherry Kollmann, Christopher Butala, Zachary Butala, and Mathias Butala IV; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Brandan Craig, and Courtney, Christopher, Brock, and Adrian Demuth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathias J. Butala (1996); brother, Barney Butala; son-in-law, Roman Gertken, and 9 half brothers and sisters.
