A popular event for gardeners in Central Minnesota is being offered again this fall. “Gardening Knowledge for Free” will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Whitney Center in St. Cloud.
Gardening Knowledge for Free is a half day event of gardening classes offered by the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners of Stearns County. This workshop will be held from 8:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. This is an opportunity to get some expert advice for preparing gardening projects for this fall and over the long Minnesota winter.
This year, the Master Gardeners of Stearns County, will be presenting on a variety of topics including:
• Houseplant care;
• The basics of composting;
• Designing containers for fall and winter;
• Putting the garden to bed for winter; and
• Garden 911: What to do when things go wrong.
There is no charge for this workshop, but pre-registration is necessary. For more information, or to register for this event, call the University of Minnesota Extension-Stearns County office at (320) 255-6169 or 1 (800) 450-6171.
Call early, as registration is limited. When calling, a participant will need to list the three workshops in which they plan to participate in for the day. Registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 20.
Check in for registration at Whitney will take place from 8:15 a.m. – 8:25 a.m. and classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. Coffee and rolls will be available for a freewill donation, and 2013 Minnesota Gardening Calendars will be available for purchase.
