Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Little Sauk for Geolena E. DeLong, age 99, of Little Sauk who passed away on Sunday at St. Michael’s Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday in Little Sauk. Rev. Melissa Erhardt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Long Prairie.
Geolena was born on November 30, 1912 in Watford, ND to the late Olaf and Ann (Veeder) Sorenson. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Little Sauk. Geolena was active in her church, serving as Treasurer on the board of trustees and also as a member of the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, quilting, crocheting, working outside in her yard and just staying active. She was the postmaster in Little Sauk for many years. Geolena was a very special person. She was kind, caring and loved by many. Geolena was a good listener and her door was always open and the coffee pot was always on. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Geolena is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob; brothers, Gilman and Willis “Tiny” Sorenson; and sisters, Gladys Sorenson and Elizabeth Sorenson.
Pallbearers will be Dean Sorenson, Gordy Sorenson, Tod Sorenson, Randy Stenoien, Robert Perry and Jerry Johnson.
