Nicole Klein of Holdingford honored at State Fair Purple Ribbon Auction

Nicole Klein

Nicole Klein participated in the Purple Ribbon Auction with her award winning meat goat.

Nicole Klein of Holdingford had a Meat Goat selected for the 2012 Purple Ribbon Livestock Auction. Ron and Julie Klein are the parents of the Stearns County youth. The animal was purchased by Minnesota Dairy Goat Association, Channel Seeds, Dekalb Asgrow.

Quality animals, quality kids, and quality buyers made for another successful Purple Ribbon Auction on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The 33rd annual parade of champion beef, lambs, goats and swine included 100 head and set a fast pace as bidders raised over $430,000 in additional premium dollars for Minnesota 4-H youth and Animal Science Education programs.

Proceeds from the Purple Ribbon Livestock Auction go to the winning 4-H youth and 22 percent of the funds are designated to further Minnesota 4-H programs including animal science projects and the Auction scholarships.  Key industry individuals and agribusiness supporters again matched premium dollars to help the Auction Scholarship Fund provide 23 scholarships to young people preparing for careers in agriculture at institutes of higher learning. The sale is sponsored annually by the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association.
