Michael N. Gruber Jr. 83,

Michael N. Gruber Jr. age 83, of Belgrade died on Monday, October 22, 2012, at his home in Belgrade.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade.  Interment will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake Henry.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4-8:00 pm at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church with a Knights of Columbus/Catholic United Financial Rosary being prayed at 4:30pm and Parish Prayers at 8:00 pm.  The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Michael Nicholas was born to Michael and Ida (Jaeger) Gruber on November 7, 1928 in Lake Henry, MN. He married his faithful and loving Rosie, Rosemarie Korf on August 27th, 1951 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Meire Grove, MN. Michael was a hard-working farmer who believed in planting and prayer and was blessed with a life of abundance. They farmed near Lake Henry until their retirement in 1988, at which time they moved to Belgrade.  There, he was closer to his Euchre playing buddies and enjoyed playing cards and being adored by his 40 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Michael (Jr.) will be remembered for his accordion and concertina skills, his love of the Minnesota Twins and anything baseball, and his uncanny ability to live in the sun, no matter how hot.  He was a card shark with “the outlaws” and a blessing to everyone he met. Michael was a kind and gentle soul who always had room in his heart and his life for all who needed a helping hand or a smile. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph’s Society and the Catholic Aid Association.  Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Rosie; children Ron (Darlene) of Freeport, Gary (Karen) of Belgrade, Dennis (Bernice) of Belgrade, Roger (Kirsten) of Belgrade, Randy (Barb) of Burnsville, Luan Knoll of Sartell, Lori (Dan) Braegelman of Plymouth, Robert (Mary) of Sauk Centre, Jane (Paul) Weller of Brooten, Geralyn (Curt) Lieser of Paynesville, Brian (Kristi) of Glenwood, Barb (Tim) Lieser of Circle Pines, and Terry of Belgrade. His sisters Lenora (Eddie) Kampsen of Litchfield, Erma (Jim) Reiland of St. Cloud and Patricia Wensman of Paynesville and sisters-in-law Bonita Gruber of St.Cloud, Mary Lou Wensman of Crystal and brother-in-law Hubert Sunderman of Melrose.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter Mary Kay, infant grandchildren Charlene Gruber and William Knoll. Brothers Marcellus (Delma), Urban and David Gruber and infant sister Shirley and sisters Florence (Erwin) DeMorrett, Bergetta (Andrew) Lieser, Virgie Whitney and Dolores Sunderman.
