A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Helen H. Lemke, age 92, of Long Prairie, who passed away on Sunday November 25th at CentraCare Healthsystem in Long Prairie. Pastor Noah Wehrspann will officiate and burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Long Prairie at a later date. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie, and from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Thursday at the church.

Helen Henrietta Schloesser was born on June 9, 1920 in Hawley, MN to the late Arthur and Mathilda (Eide) Schloesser She graduated from Pine City High School in 1940. Helen then went to Seattle, WA to train as a nurse from 1941 to 1944. She was united in marriage to Fred Lemke on Nov. 17, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Seattle, WA, and in 1946 they moved to Long Prairie. Helen worked as a nurse at Long Prairie Hospital for 18 years and as a Nursing Supervisor at Long Prairie Nursing Home for another 15 years. She enjoyed this work immensely, and was an inspiration for many other nurses. Helen was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie and their Ladies Circle. She was a cancer survivor and belonged to a support group, and also worked in Hospice care and visiting shut-ins. Helen was involved in Al-Anon, the V.F.W., the Homemakers and Kitchen Klan, as well as the L.W.M.L. where she enjoyed making quilts and visiting. Helen was a wonderful cook and baker, especially cakes which she decorated for many special occasions. She exhibited many of her canned fruits and vegetables, and baked goods at the Todd County Fair. Helen enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, crocheting and embroidery, and attending concerts and plays.

Helen will be dearly missed by her children, Dennis (Barb) Lemke of Fridley, MN, David (Daintree) Lemke of Alexandria, and Pam ( Owen) Bohnsack of Pharr, TX; brother, Gerald (Jane) Schloesser of Tiverton, RI; half-brother, Richard (Thede) Patterson of Mora, MN; sisters-in-law, Judy (Dave) Ammerman of Isanti, MN, and Sally Steiner of Mora; 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and step-mother, Dorothy Schloesser; husband, Fred in 1986; brothers, Harold, Raymond, and Donald Schloesser, and Ronald Patterson; and sister, Joan Ammerman.

Casketbearers will be Jerry Ager, Milo Drevlow, David Ammerman, Victor Lemke, Jr., Jim Bundy, and Richard Patterson.
