A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Peace United Church North in Long Prairie, MN, for Doris M. Johnson, age 101, of Long Prairie, MN. Rev. Gary Taylor will officiate and burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Long Prairie. Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Doris Marie Claseman was born on June 1, 1911 in Long Prairie, MN to the late, Ben and Louise (Lohrke) Claseman. She graduated from Sauk Centre High School, and worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Griep Garage in Long Prairie. Doris was united in marriage to Clifford Johnson on May 10, 1935 in South Dakota. Together they settled in Long Prairie, where Doris has lived ever since. They ran the Midget Market in town, and Doris also worked in retail sales at Victor Clothing Store. Doris enjoyed sewing, baking, and shopping. She was very witty with a marvelous sense of humor, and enjoyed visiting with her neighbors. Doris adored her grandchildren, great granchildren, and great great granchildren and the time spent with them.
Doris is survived by her children, Marilee (Paul) Vickberg of Afton, MN, Donna (Gerald) Sales of Waite Park, MN, Judith (Dale) Stevenson of Prescott, AZ, Susan (John) Pesta of Long Prairie, and Robert (Barbara) Johnson of Audubon, MN; sister, Lorraine Schlicht of Melrose, MN; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford (1992); grandson, Jay Stevenson; great grandson, John Henry Mahoney; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
