Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for James C. Kahlert, age 72, who died Tuesday evening at his home in Boulder Creek, CA. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Monday morning in the St. Boniface Narthex. Arrangements are with Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.
Jim was born in St. Cloud, MN to Isidore and Gladys (Hesselroth) Kahlert. He married Sharon A. Ohmann on September 21, 1963 in St. Andrews Church, Greenwald, MN. Jim retired after 40+ years from Lockheed Martin as a “computer engineer”. He served with Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association for 30 years, actively involved at numerous Tournament of Roses Parades and Football Games as a “white suiter”. His favorite volunteer positions included assisting with the Equestfest exhibits and working front lines on parade routes. Jim was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with friends and family. He enjoyed field trials with his Black Labs and was a member of the Foster City Rod and Gun Club and Hills Ferry Hunting Retriever Club. Jim loved being in a duck blind, or fishing boat with his family including AKC Black Labs Jack, Duke, and Lady.
Survivors include his sons, Jason (Elaine) of Denver, CO, Greg (Susan) of Redwood City, CA; his daughter, Deanna (Casey) Tierney of Gardnerville, NV; brother, John (Marie), and 5 grandchildren, Zachary, Trevor, Anya, Sean, and Eli.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Isidore and Gladys Kahlert; sisters, Mary Lou Thull and Dorothy Eveslage, and faithful companion and beloved black lab, “Jack”.
