Sauk Centre man hospitalized after being shot near Upsala; suspect in Morrison County Jail
A Sauk Centre man was hospitalized after he was shot early Saturday morning,
A resident off of Highway 238 south of Upsala, called the Morrison County Sheriff’s Department in the early morning hours saying a male victim had reported being shot.
Morrison County deputies and Minnesota State Patrol officers responded to the scene and talked to the victim, Samuel Bennett, 27. He was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.
The suspect in the shooting, 23-year-old Gerardo Botello-Garcia, 23, was later located in the city of Melrose by Melrose police officers and Stearns County deputies and turned over to Morrison County Sheriff’s deputies.
Botello-Garcia allegedly admitted to investigators with the Morrison County Sheriff’s office that he had been involved in the shooting. He is currently in the Morrison County Jail pending formal charges.
