A  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie for Lloyd J. Pommier, 91 year old resident of Long Prairie, MN, who passed away on Sunday, January 12th at Galeon Community Memorial Home  in Osakis, MN. Father Richard Walz will officiate and burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Long Prairie. Friends may call from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.

Lloyd John Pommier was born on June 24, 1921 in Currie, MN to the late Hector and Margaret (Ruppert) Pommier. He graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in Currie. Lloyd was united in marriage to Ellen Mae Regenberg on June 2, 1945 in Currie, MN. They moved to a farm between Clarissa and Eagle Bend. In 1981, they retired from farming and moved into Long Prairie. Lloyd was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie, and a former member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa. He served on the Eagle Bend School Board.

Lloyd enjoyed playing cards (especially pinochle). He went fishing whenever he could, and planted a garden, taking great pride in his tomatoes. Lloyd hated crossword puzzles, pickles, and pizzas. He would peruse novelty magazines of tractors and such, and liked looking over the old family portraits. Lloyd enjoyed visits with his neighbors and family gatherings.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Carol (George) Warner, Charles (Linda) Pommier, Phillip (Maureen) Pommier, Marilyn (Dennis) Drong, Warren (Laura) Pommier, Jean (Jerome) Wigdahl, Kathleen (Michael) McGill, Richard (Gabi) Pommier, Mark Pommier, and Steve (Colleen) Pommier; 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ellen Mae (2008); granddaughter, Kimberly; brothers, Vince and Robert Pommier; and sister, Beatrice Pommier.

Pallbearers will be his six sons, and honorary pallbearers will be his four daughters.
