HoweLorenWEBLoren L. Howe, age 79 of Rogers, formerly of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 of complications resulting from Alzheimer’s at the Wellstead in Rogers, Minnesota. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12 at Woodbine Cemetery in Valley City, North Dakota.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre.

Loren Howe was born March 24, 1933 in Lucca, North Dakota to Walter and Bertha (Usattis) Howe. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 while stationed in Camp Hanford, Washington. After the service, he attended Valley City State College where he met his wife, Sharon. On August 31, 1959 he married Sharon Hanna in Enderlin, North Dakota. The couple lived in Nome, Lisbon and Valley City, North Dakota. They later resided in Windom, Minnesota and have lived in Sauk Centre since 1974.

Loren worked as a regional sales representative for several farm equipment companies. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his hunting dogs, gardening and working outdoors.

Loren was a former member of First Lutheran Church, past president of Sinclair Lewis Aerie 3847 Fraternal Order of Eagles, member of American Legion Post 67 and former member of the Windom Jaycees.

Survivors include four children, Laurel Neurauter of Valley City, North Dakota, Jana (Dan) Beck of Woodbury, Sheryl (Mark) Rafferty of Lino Lakes and Jared (Erin) Howe of Sauk Centre; 13 grandchildren, Brandon, Shaina, Amber, Jamie (Ricky) Pearson, Caitlyn, Courtney, Alex, Sam, Shauna, Erin, Will, Kaelyn and Taylor; one great-granddaughter, Hanna; sister, Erma Daub of Enderlin, North Dakota; and sister-in-law, Gladys Howe of Enderlin, North Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Howe; parents, Walter and Bertha Howe; brothers, Marvin and Clarence Howe; brother-in-law, Glen Daub; and sister-in-law, Ethel Howe.

Serving as casket bearers will be his grandchildren.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
