A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie, for Richard H. Stahn, age 82, of Osakis, MN, who passed away on Sunday, January 6th at his residence. Pastor Noah Wehrspann will officiate. Friends and family may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Military Honors are being provided by Osakis V.F.W. Post #7902. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Richard Herman Stahn was born on November 18, 1930 in Fieldon Township, MN to the late August A. and Louise J. (Reibling) Stahn. He graduated from St. James High School in 1947 and worked at his father’s Service Station. Richard entered into the U.S. Army in January of 1951 and served overseas until his honorable discharge in August of 1952. Richard was united in marriage to Beatrice Bushard on November 17, 1952 in Waco, TX. Richard worked as a machinist for many years, retiring from Technical Tooling Co. on April 1, 1992. He and Beatrice moved to Osakis, MN to enjoy the retirement life, fishing on Lake Osakis. Richard was a general handyman around the house and could fix most anything. He enjoyed maintaining his cars and also woodworking. They traveled around the United States, and Richard pursued his passion for skydiving, successfully completing almost 100 jumps. They entertained at many neighborhood gatherings and enjoyed the holiday celebrations with family and friends.
Richard was a lifetime member of the Osakis V.F.W. Post #7902, an assistant scout master with the Boyscouts of America, and a three year member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie.
Richard will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Beatrice; children, Kenneth (fiancé, Sue) Stahn of Ham Lake, MN, Daniel Stahn of Isanti, MN, Patricia (Michael) Heldt of New Hope, MN, and Julie (Larry) Fern of Blaine, MN; sister, Esther Aielts of Arlington, TX; brother, George Stahn of Hurst, TX; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
