Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Robert C. Lauer, age 88, who died Tuesday at the Paynesville Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Martin Parish Hall in St. Martin. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the St. Martin Parish Hall.
Bob was born in St. Martin, MN to Leonard and Lydia (Backes) Lauer. He married Margaret Meyer on October 29, 1945 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, MN. He was a farmer and founder of the Bobby Roberts Band. Bob loved music, especially playing the clarinet and saxophone. He liked playing cards, fishing, and watching the MN Twins and Nascar racing. He also enjoyed watching turkeys and deer from his window. Bob was a member of Knights of Columbus, Catholic United Financial, and St. Martin Parish.
Survivors include his children, Mary (Wayne) Hagen of Belgrade, Chuck (Jan) of Cold Spring, Randy (Mary) of St. Martin, Janel Wiser of St. Joseph, and Patty Lauer- Roberts (David) of St. Paul; siblings, Arnold, Linus, and Ruth Tripplet; 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (August 15, 2000); parents, and sisters, Tarsella and Marion.
