Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Donald L. Bangert, age 81, who passed away on Wednesday’ Feb. 13th at CentraCare Healthsystem in Long Prairie. Rev. Nathan Higgins will officiate and burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Clotho. Friends and relatives may call from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Donald Lee Bangert was born on February 27, 1931 in Leslie Township, MN to the late Fred A. and Laura (Haefner) Bangert. He helped on the family farm until moving to the twin cities to work in the early 1960’s. He returned to the area in the 1970’s. Donald enjoyed following his favorite team, the Minnesota Twins. He liked to listen to music and read. Donald also enjoyed spending time on the lake fishing.
Donald is survived by his twin sister, Dora (Robert) Webb of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Mavis Bangert of Roseville; many nieces, nephews, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers, Carl, Raymond, William, Herman, Walter, Henry, and Albert Bangert; and 3 sisters, Violet Lowe, Mildred Flink and Anna Marie Bjerkaas.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Russell Bangert, Darrell Apelgrain, Forest Bjerkaas, and Clifford Bangert.
Pallbearers will be Sean Ward, James Kingston, Mark Bangert, Bob Monson, James Monson, Carlton Bjerkaas, and Noah Ward.
