Josephine SobotkaJosephine Sobotka, age 91 of Clarissa, died February 20, 2013 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday, February 25, 2013, Rosary at 9:30 am. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery

Josephine was born February, 22, 1921 in Browerville, MN to Joseph & Mary (Marousek) Baker. She attended school in Clarissa. After graduating from Clarissa High School, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked for Honeywell and Johnson & Johnson. On February 7, 1948 she married Richard Sobotka at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Illinois. In 1950, they moved back to the Clarissa area and bought a farm. Josephine & Richard worked on the farm until 1969 when they sold it and moved into Clarissa. Josephine then worked at Fingerhut in Sauk Centre and Animal Fair in Grey Eagle and retired in 1985. Josephine enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, crocheting and loved to read westerns, especially Louis L’amour. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, St. Theresa’s Circle and Iona Township Homemakers Club.

Josephine is survived by her children: David (Debi) Sobotka of Long Prairie, Tim (Cathy) Sobotka of Lakeville, Mark (Joanie) Sobotka of Sauk Centre, Rick Sobotka of Stewartville, Kathy (Steve) Yates of Clarissa, Cheryl Doerr of Sauk Centre, Karen (Tom) DeFrance of Swanville, Monica Sobotka of St. Louis Park, 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband-Richard, brother-Joseph Baker and sister-Mayme Urich.
