Funeral Services celebrating the life of Marcella “Marcy” Anna Birr, age 90 of Albany will be at 11AM Monday, February 25th 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farming Township.  Pastor Frederick Kutter will officiate and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the service.  Marcy died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family Thursday morning.  Friends and family may call from 4-8PM Sunday, February 24th and again from 9-11AM Monday, February 25th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farming Township.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Albany.

Marcy was born on May 7th, 1922 in Paynesville, MN to Emil and Lydia (Haag) Kelm.  She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley.  Marcy married Gustav W. Birr on September 26th, 1947 in Paynesville.  After marriage, the couple made their home on a farm near Albany.  To their union there were seven children born.  Marcy was a devout member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farming Township.  She was the past president of the Ladies Aid serving from 1947-2006.  Some of her favorite things in life included working at church, gardening, dancing with Dad, playing cards, spending time with her sisters, and performing skits with her “girls” at church.  Her greatest joy though was her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  The greatest blessing she bestowed on all who entered under her roof was her love and faith in Christ that she shared.

Marcy is survived by her loving children Paul Birr, Cold Spring; Warren Birr, Cold Spring; Duane Birr, Albany; Kenn (Shirley) Burr, Albany; Ron Birr, Spartanburg, SC; Joyce (Dave) Wielenberg, Albany; her 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters Caroline (Delroy) Schoenleben, Waite Park; Marlene (Clarence) Birr, St. Joseph; and her son-in-law Roger Notch Sr.

She is preceded in death by her parents Emil and Lydia Kelm, her husband Gustav Birr who passed in 1990, her daughter Lois Notch who passed in 2003, her daughter-in-law Leona Birr, her grandchildren Brenda Birr and Dustin Birr, her great-great-grandson Ilijah Hoell, her sister Adeline Snyder, and her brother-in-law Harry Snyder.
