Agate collector to speak Wednesday, March 13

Come to the Stearns History Museum and Research Center on Wednesday evening, March 13, 2013, and learn how Lyndon Johnson’s agate hunting has grown from a pastime to an obsession.

Johnson has been collecting agates — fossilized coral and quartz — for about 17 years.  The rocks’ beauty and history as well as the thrill of the hunt intrigue him.

All his agates come from Central Minnesota, the greatest percentage from Benton County.  He has one of the largest collections in the world.

Johnson will have hundreds of his favorites to show.   The Museum store also sells his book titled Lake Superior Agates: What to Look For.

Light refreshments will be served from 8:45 p.m.
