Elizabeth Rose Hemmesch, 91

HemmeschElizabethWEBMass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville, for Elizabeth Rose Hemmesch, age 91, of Paynesville, who died on Thursday March 7, 2013 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Rev. Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday between 4:00-8:00 PM at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the Church. Parish Prayers will be at 6:00 PM.

Elizabeth was born January 30, 1922 in St. Martin Township to Bernard and Anna (Olmscheid) Kollmann. She married Henry A. Hemmesch on September 24, 1940 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. They farmed in rural Lake Henry from 1940-1979, then they retired and moved to Paynesville. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Christian Women, St. Catherine’s Mission Group, Crosier Apostolates, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Daughters of Isabella.

Elizabeth enjoyed her children, grandchildren and their families. She was well known for her cake decorating talents, along with quilting, flower and vegetable gardening, bowling, and her card playing groups. Elizabeth loved to travel to various destinations; the highlight was her trip to the Vatican in Rome with her sister Anna.

Survivors include her children, Jeanette Lieser (Robert A.) Paynesville; Robert B. Hemmesch (Sandra) Paynesville; Ronald Hemmesch , Sauk Rapids; Henrietta Hemmesch, Rochester; Jarett Hemmesch (Mary Lee) Cold Spring; 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws, Frances Kollmann, Waite Park; Irene Hemmesch, Paynesville; and Gen Hemmesch, Watkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, April 12, 1988, brothers and sisters, Math Kollmann, Nick Kollmann, John Kollmann, and Bernard Kollmann, Clara Klaphake and Anna Hoppe and great-granddaughter, Stacy Ann Orbeck.

Memorials are preferred to the Koronis Manor, Rose Center, or St. Louis Catholic Church.

The family would especially like to thank the entire staff at the Koronis Manor for their unconditional and professional support for helping Elizabeth cope with her Alzheimer ’s disease. Their compassionate care was a blessing to Elizabeth.
