Evelyn L. Pelarski, 94
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie for Evelyn L. Pelarski, 94 year old resident of Long Prairie, formerly of Grey Eagle, who passed away on Friday, March 15th at CentraCare Healthsystem in Long Prairie, MN. Father Mark Willenbring will officiate and burial will be at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Grey Eagle. Friends and family may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Evelyn Leona Janski was born on September 14, 1918 in North Prairie, MN to the late Frank and Mae (McNeal) Janski. Evelyn was united in marriage to Dominic Pelarski on May 9, 1943 in San Luis Obispo, CA. Both she and her husband served their country, with Evelyn working in the defense plants in Minnesota and Detroit. After the war, they returned to Minnesota and settled on a dairy farm near Grey Eagle, which they continued to farm until Dominic’s death in 1971. After selling the farm, Evelyn moved into Grey Eagle, and then moved into Long Prairie in 1976, where she lived to this day. Evelyn was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, and St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie.
Evelyn enjoyed growing a garden and canning the produce, as well as raising poultry on her farm. She enjoyed fishing and being outside. During quiet times she would crochet and embroider, as well as making quilts. Evelyn enjoyed doing word puzzles and playing cards. She always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her son, David (Jean) Pelarski of East Grand Forks, MN; daughters, Shirley (Ronald) Jacobson of Long Prairie, and Marjorie (Raymond) Strassburg of Motley, MN; brother, Lorenzo Janski of Rice, MN; sisters, Edna Ebnet of Crosby, MN, Effie (Danny) Zabinski of St. Cloud, MN, Ethel Fiea of St. Cloud, and Marjorie (Carl) Waldoch of Burnsville, MN 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dominic (1971); brothers, Delmar, Alphonse, Maurice, and Norbert Janski; sisters, Jeanice Janski, OSB, and Irene Kroll.
Casketbearers will be Ronald Jacobson, Jr., Anthony Jacobson, Richard Jacobson, Andrew Jacobson, Daniel Pelarski, and Dennis Strassburg.
