Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Rose Mary Alexander, age 94, who died Tuesday. Entombment will be in the Alexander Family Mausoleum.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 18th at St. Boniface Church in the Marian Chapel. Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., in the Marian Chapel.
Rose was born in Balta, ND to Rochus and Agnes (Schaan) Eisenzimmer, one of 14 children. After the family moved to Cold Spring, she ran Eisenzimmer’s General Store with her brother Ike. Rose married John Cooper Alexander on May 16, 1945 in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Cold Spring. She was a member of St. Boniface Christian Women, VFW Auxiliary, and Lioness.
Rose served on the Board of Directors of Cold Spring Granite Company for over 30 years. She and her husband John, a founder of Cold Spring Granite, fostered the growth of the company within the community and across the United States. She is the mother of Pat Alexander, current chairman and CEO of the company.
Rose was a terrific lady, engaged and active in her church and a benevolent figure in Cold Spring, the community she loved. She was the caring and compassionate head of the Alexander family and she inspired all who knew her. More than anything she loved entertaining family and friends, cooking, laughing, and singing. She was an avid bridge and cribbage player, diarist, and devoted letter writer to family and friends. She cherished being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her gentle wisdom and influence will be missed by all.
