Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Harriet Mehr, age 89, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. The Sts. Peter & Paul Christian Women and the Paynesville Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home.
Harriet was born in Terrebonne, MN to Joseph and Emma Ste. Marie. She married Alver Mehr on September 2, 1950 in Terrebonne, MN. Harriet was a teacher who taught in various country schools including, Roscoe, Farming, North of Richmond and West of Roscoe. Harriet and her husband, Alver farmed near Roscoe until 1987. After retiring from farming they moved to Richmond. She enjoyed traveling, baking and especially playing cards. She cherished her time with her friends and family; especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Doug (Deb) of Burnsville, Diane (Kent) Cashel of Park City, Utah, and Ron (Sheila) of Richmond; sisters, Elise Ste. Marie, Eraine Schmit, Lucy Higgins, and Carole Vammen; one brother, Richard Ste. Marie; sisters-in-law, Louise Korman and Marie Mehr. 7 grandchildren, Katie (Brent) O’Malley, Anne (Kyle) Howie, Jacob Mehr, Robert Cashel, Danielle, Alexis and Kristin Mehr; 1 great-grandchild due shortly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alver; one sister, Isabelle Korman; two brothers, Donald and Reaume Ste. Marie; and 1 grandson, Matthew Mehr.
