Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Hubert Schmitt, age 87, who died Monday at Sterling Park Nursing Home in Waite Park. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the mass in the Church Narthex.
Hubert was born in Cold Spring to Hilary “Larry” and Appolonia (Theisen) Schmitt. He married Darlene Kotschevar on September 2, 1952 in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Cold Spring. Hubert and Darlene farmed north of Cold Spring most of their lives. The couple retired and moved to Cold Spring in 1994. He loved farming, fishing, watching wrestling, playing cards and word finds. Hubert was a member of St. Boniface Parish and Catholic United Financial.
Survivors include his loving wife, Darlene; 8 nieces and nephews, Mary Lou Kellner, Wade Kotschevar, Kemp Kotschevar, Janet Alle, Ann Pederson, Jan Lauby, Bryan Kotschevar and Dave Stalberger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Viola (Marcus) Kellner.
