Hazel Marie Simonson, 84 of Browerville passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the CentraCare Nursing Home in Long Prairie. The funeral for Hazel will be on Friday, May 3, 2013; 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville; burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Browerville. Friends may call on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Hazel was born January 18, 1929 on the family farm in
Woodside Township, Ottertail County to Henry & Annie
(Ulsby) Blashack. As a young girl, she attended country school near Parkers Prairie & later graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1947. On July 21, 1947, Hazel married Leslie “Spud” Simonson in Long Prairie, MN and moved to Browerville shortly after their marriage.
Hazel loved her family and enjoyed golfing (playing & watching it on TV), bowling, Twins baseball and was the greatest lefsa baker. She is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville.
She is survived by her daughter Carol (Rick) Sadlemyer of Long Prairie, son William Simonson of Browerville; grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Ames of Otsego, Leslie (Forrest) Russell of Centerville, Jason (Lacei) Sadlemyer of Long Prairie, Chelsea (Zach) Snyder of San Diego, Heidi (Dave) Zager of London, England, Levi (Chelsie) Simonson of Eugene, Oregon, Brooke Simonson of Fargo & 9 great grandchildren.
Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie (1997), son, Richard (2012), parents, Henry & Annie, sister, Helen Riedel and brother, Orville Blashack.
