Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Leona Anna Statz, age 91, who died Sunday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Entombment will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wenner Funeral Home, 151 Oakwood Ave. SE, Richmond. Sts. Peter & Paul Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home.
Leona was born in Farming, MN to Joseph and Anna (Lodermeier) Rausch. She married Thomas J. Statz on September 24, 1946 in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Farming. Leona was a wonderful seamstress and loved quilting. She also enjoyed playing cards and gardening. Leona was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Christian Women, Rosary Society, and Mission Group.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas; children, Joyce (David Hogan), Robert (Mary Lynn), Gilbert (Vicki), Eldred (Sue), Marlene (Dan) Hovland, Bernice (Gary) Beehler, Howard (Susan), James (Connie), Vinard (Sandy), Laura (Brett) Johnson, Brian (Heather), Charlotte (Craig) Karolus; sister, Theresa (Joseph) Loecken; 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Catherine, Elizabeth, Mary, Cecilia, and Margaret; twin brother, Joseph; brothers, Lenny, Eddy, Aloysious, Alphonse, and Joseph D.
