Maynard D. Lommel, age 80 went peacefully at his home on Wednesday surrounded by his family after battling cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake (Marty), MN. Concelebrants will be Fr. Mark Ostendorf and Fr. Ralph Zimmerman. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Maynard was born June 14, 1932 the son of Raymond and Florence (Eversman) Lommel in St. Cloud, MN. After graduation from St. Cloud Technical High School he served 2 years in the US Army. Maynard worked at Great Northern Railroad and 33 years at the St. Cloud Hospital as Director of Purchasing. He was united in marriage to Lenore M. Loesch on August 31, 1957, together they raised 4 wonderful children. Maynard loved antiquing with his Aunt Martha, drawing plans for his next big project, going north to the cabin and spending time with friends and family. He also took pride in his flowers and loved to care for his lawn and garden.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lenore, children, David (Bonnie) Lommel, Jeneen (Dale) Albers, Warren (Lenore “Lenny”) Lommel; grandchildren, Ashley and Cody Lommel, Amy (Mike) Blaskowski, Gina (Jason) Libbesmeier, Katlin, James and Weston Albers; great-grandchildren, Riley Albers, Taylor, Elliana and Eli Libbesmeier, Eva Blaskowski, Madilyn Albers and Calvin Knaus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Gordon Lommel.
