The Stearns County Corn Growers Association, a division of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA), has awarded its 2012-13 Agriculture Scholarships to Sabrina Ley, Trisha Molitor and Michelle Reitsma, each in the amount of $1,000.
The association awards up to four $1,000 scholarships each year to qualifying students who are pursuing degrees in agriculture. The program is sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association.
This scholarship can be used by college students at all levels — undergrads, graduates or students going back for a higher degree.
The infrastructure of the agricultural community depends on continually attracting talented students into the field. We hope this scholarship heightens awareness of opportunities for education in agriculture. The award can go to any college expenses — tuition, books or living expenses.
MCGA, based in Shakopee, represents the interests of 6,000 farmer members through activities that engage the public and inform legislators, media and business representatives, as well as other important state and community leaders about the issues that impact farmers and the role that farmers play in bringing food, fiber and energy products to the consumer.
