Twenty-two individuals, along with their classic tractors, participated in a tractor drive, sometimes known as a tractor-cade, on June 15. This event was made possible due mainly to the sponsorship and support of MBC Drainage of Sauk Centre.
The Tractor Drive started at the 10-Mile Tavern in Westport. Drivers then proceeded to head towards the Sauk Centre Lions Park at Fairy Lake using less traveled township and county roads. Once at the park, drivers stopped for lunch before heading back to the 10-Mile Tavern.
Drivers put approximately 30 miles on their tractors traveling at speeds around 10 mph. Most participants were from the Sauk Centre area, although there were some that came from as far as Alexandria, Cold Spring, and even Iowa. Tractors that were brought were mainly Farmall and John Deere with some others that included Ford, Massey Harris, Case, Cockshut and probably the rarest, a Rockol.
The event was enjoyed by all who participated as there is no better way to see the countryside than at 10 mph with nothing but the sound of old iron under you.
